Adi here with a fun post today! I will be talking about hybrid veggies and fruits. Now what is a hybrid? Well a hybrid is when two different species of animals or plants cross-breed. It sounds kind of weird but the results can be cool. If any of you have watched Jurassic World, then you have seen a hybrid because the famous "Indominus Rex" is a hybrid from a chameleon, cuttlefish, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and a Velociraptor. Of course the dinosaur was not real but it certainly looked cool!
So, I wanted to share with you some wacky but tasty hybrid fruits and vegetables. Lets get started!
Pluots: Pluots are a combination of plums and apricots. They look very spherical and in colors can very from a light pinkish-orange to a deep, deep purple. They are very young, invented 25 years ago, but can be found easily and are extremely sweet! *chomp*

Blood Orange: This fruit is like a ninja or a secret spy. It looks like a normal orange but WHAM, when you cut it open, you get a bright red color in the inside. It looks like blood but don't worry, because it isn't. This fruit is also very dramatic! Fun Fact: To get the inside of the orange to turn red, the special fruits are exposed to the cold during their growing stage.

Brussel Kale/Kalettes: Here is our first hybrid vegetable! As you probably guessed, the Brussel Kale or Kalettes are a combination of Brussel Sprouts and Kale. I know they are two of the weirdest tasting vegetables but some people actually says it is good! Maybe see if you can try it for yourself... if you can actually find it.This hybrid is pretty rare to find in supermarkets.

Tangelo: One of the most sweetest fruits you are going to find here. Tangerine + Grapefruit = big size and tasty concoction. They are also very easy to peel. Also very easy to notice because of its big size.

Broccoflower: This is a really nice hybrid. Mix broccoli and cauliflower and you get a cool looking green, tasty vegetable.

Pineberry: One of my absolute favorite looking fruits. This albino strawberry is awesome based on the fact that it smells like a pineapple and has red seeds and is white. Everyone loves this. Oh, and did I mention that it is a mix of pineapple and strawberry?

Wow! That was amazing and I hope you all liked it too. Please leave in the comments if you have any other hybrids or if you have eaten one of these. I have only eaten the blood orange but I would like to eat all the others. Also, please check every week before Friday at 5 pm for a new post. I hope you will continue to read! Last but not least, I am going to put 4 or 5 emojis at the end of my post to tease the topic of the next one. See if you can figure it out and if you know, write in the comments below.

ReplyDeleteGood information on how to grow hybrid fruits plus i liked the fun facts too.
keep blogging Adi :)
Cool information! Seems like science fruits!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't eaten too many of them. I generally stick to the "normal" fruits - Banana, Apples, Oranges, etc. Oh and I love a good Mango.. haven't had one of those in eons it seems like!!
But I'd LOVE to try these out! I can't wait to check out the Tangelo.. that's the one I'd pick here.
OK! So my prediction for your next blog based on your emojis of Lightning, Trident, Mountain, Bow and Arrow, Sun, Planet is: A story involving all of these.. perhaps it's a story where a superhero with a trident battles a bad guy who has a bow and arrow, on top of the highest mountain on the planet, where its sunny but you can still see the lightning! Something like that?
Cool blog Ada! Keep writing you're so natural!
Awesome blog, as always! Loved the theme and the uniqueness of each fruit and vegetable. I also have had only the blood orange. I would love to taste the Pineberry and the Broccoflower - they sound pretty interesting.
ReplyDeleteOn the topic of your next blog, I am guessing it is related to Greek mythology. Fingers crossed and waiting to read it soon.
Keep writing - these are really cool blog posts!
Wow I should have checked my gmail earlier.
